The chance to stay in a truly historic building doesn’t come around very often, and you should take that chance when it does. Two Shields is in the Palazzo Mori Ubaldini degli Alberti, which has been recognised for over one hundred years as integral to Italy’s artistic heritage. As you might expect, it’s quite grand inside, and the frescoed ceiling in the living room feels quite special. And of course, the fact that the Santa Croce basilica is around the corner doesn’t hurt.

Home truths

Due to the historic nature of the living room, there's no air conditioning installed there (though the rest of the flat does have it)

The third and fourth bedrooms are completely open to each other, and there's no privacy

While the downstairs bathroom is pretty modern, the rest of them feel a bit dated

About Santa Croce

Santa Croce is a trendy, architecturally impressive neighbourhood that’s less busy than the Duomo or San Marco districts, but still in the heart of Florence. Home to the eponymous basilica, and the Casa Buonarroti museum, it’s located in the eastern part of Florence’s historic centre. The largest crowds have thinned out by this point, but if you stay here, you're still close enough to explore the whole city on foot....

Host

This home is managed by Elisabetta

This home is managed directly by a business. A member of their staff will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Elisabetta's family owns the palace, and has something of a storied history. Nowadays, they all chip in when renting out parts of it – her mother takes care of most of the cleaning, for example, while Elisabetta deals with check-ins and check-outs.
